Dover hasn't had much luck against Kennard-Dale recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will head out to challenge the Rams at 4:15 p.m.
Dover is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell 7-4 to New Oxford on Wednesday. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.
Mason Murdock made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Kennard-Dale came tearing into Wednesday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Rams this season.
Jake Harris made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Perzanowski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Micah Smith, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Kennard-Dale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Kennard-Dale's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Dover, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Dover suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Kennard-Dale when the teams last played on April 1st. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
