Volleyball Game Preview: Bishop Watterson Eagles vs. St. Charles Cardinals

Bishop Watterson is 1-7 against St. Charles since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, Bishop Watterson came up short against St. Francis DeSales and fell 3-1.

Bishop Watterson came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-23.

Despite the defeat, Bishop Watterson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jack Spiers had 11 digs and one assist. Spiers is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 11 or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, St. Charles made easy work of Bishop Hartley on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won nine in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-8, 25-16.

St. Charles' win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Bishop Watterson, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-5.

Bishop Watterson took their victory against St. Charles in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
