Basketball Game Preview: Mayde Creek Rams vs. Morton Ranch Mavericks

Mayde Creek has gone 9-1 against Morton Ranch recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Mayde Creek Rams will welcome the Morton Ranch Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, Mayde Creek was able to grind out a solid win over Tompkins, taking the game 61-48.

It was another big night for Christian Gibson, who went 8 for 11 on his way to 23 points. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Daryus Tasby, who went 5 of 7 en route to 13 points.

Meanwhile, Morton Ranch came into Saturday's game having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 63-55 victory over Paetow on Saturday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Mavericks' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 426th, while the Panthers are ranked 107th).

Morton Ranch's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-9 and their overall record up to 8-14. As for Mayde Creek, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.

Mayde Creek came out on top in a nail-biter against Morton Ranch in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 60-57. Will Mayde Creek repeat their success, or does Morton Ranch have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
