Softball Game Preview: Apollo Eagles vs. Owensboro Red Devils

Apollo has gone 9-1 against Owensboro recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Eagles will take on the Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Apollo has seven straight wins, Owensboro has 16 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Apollo is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Jasper 13-3 on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Keelan Wettstain was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Liza Page was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Apollo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jasper only posted an OBP of .350.

Meanwhile, Owensboro came up short against Owensboro Catholic on Wednesday, falling 13-2.

Apollo's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Owensboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-22.

Apollo beat Owensboro 9-4 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
