Basketball Recap: North Grand Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Adriana Nelson and Milagros Bolanos

North Grand was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 30-26 heartbreaker at the hands of the Von Steuben Panthers. The Eagle Owls were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, North Grand had strong showings from Milagros Bolanos, who posted 11 points and six steals, and Adriana Nelson, who earned two points and eight rebounds. Bolanos has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

North Grand's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Von Steuben, they moved to 3-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, North Grand and Lake View will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 5:00 p.m. on January 22nd. As for Von Steuben, they will venture away from home to face off against Phoenix Military at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
