For the second straight game, Jacobs will face off against Cary-Grove. The Eagles will face off against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Jacobs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Jacobs made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cary-Grove, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 5-3 on Wednesday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

For Cary-Grove's part, Dylan Dumele made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Dumele a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Cary-Grove is undefeated when Dumele posts two or more runs, but 4-19 otherwise.

Dumele wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joey Pristera, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Pristera a new career-high. Another was Oskar Freund, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Jacobs' loss dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Cary-Grove, their record is now 10-19.

Cary-Grove's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jacobs has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .431.
