Softball Game Preview: Southern Nash Firebirds vs. Orange Panthers

The Southern Nash Firebirds will take on the Orange Panthers on Friday. Southern Nash is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Southern Nash is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Swansboro get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. The Firebirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 matches by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Orange ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They blew past Triton 15-7. The Panthers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 21st (when they won 10-0).

Lexi Bowes tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits.

At the plate, Katie Carden was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Cecil, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Orange kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Southern Nash's win was their 15th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Orange, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-9.
