Preview: American Prep WV Eagles vs. Intermountain Christian Lions
American Prep WV is 0-4 against Intermountain Christian since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The two teams will face off at 5:15 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: American Prep WV has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Intermountain Christian will arrive with seven straight victories.
On Tuesday, American Prep WV was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 37-32 to American Leadership Academy. American Prep WV has struggled against American Leadership Academy recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nicole Tran, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. It was the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimena Cortes, who scored ten points along with three blocks and two steals.
Meanwhile, Intermountain Christian stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They breezed by Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams on the road to the tune of 67-26. Intermountain Christian pushed the score to 54-15 by the end of the third, a deficit Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams had no chance of recovering from.
American Prep WV's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Intermountain Christian, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4.
American Prep WV came up short against Intermountain Christian when the teams last played on Monday, falling 52-40. Can American Prep WV avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
