Baseball Game Preview: Seaholm Maples vs. Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils

The Seaholm Maples will head out to face off against the Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Grosse Pointe South took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Seaholm, who comes in off a win.

Grosse Pointe South will be up against a hot Seaholm squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Seaholm put the hurt on Seaholm/Groves with a sharp 8-1 win on Thursday.

Ian Evert was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Seaholm: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 5-12-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Aaron Van De Mark, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Grosse Pointe South fell victim to Anchor Bay and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Tars, falling 9-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Blue Devils have suffered since May 10, 2025.

Grosse Pointe South also got a good showing from Alex Foote, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Foote has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

Seaholm's victory bumped their record up to 8-12-3. As for Grosse Pointe South, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-6 record.
