Baseball Recap: Boone Comes Up Short

Boone extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 10-9. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cypress Creek Bears. That's two games in a row now that the Braves have lost by just one run.

Boone got a good showing from Alexander Martinez, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, Martinez gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Boone saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ian Copeland, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Cypress Creek, their record is now 8-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 18, 2025.

On Cypress Creek's side, they got a great performance from Kamaehu Pescaia as he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Pescaia also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Bears are 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-8 otherwise.

Coming up, Boone will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Innovation at 7:00 p.m. As for Cypress Creek, they will head out on the road to square off against Colonial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grenadiers have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
