Softball Recap: Owsley County Owls / Lady Owls vs. Menifee County Wildcats
Owsley County had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-18 to make it nine. They came up short against the Menifee County Wildcats, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-1 back in March.
As for Menifee County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-11. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
For Menifee County's part, Grace Rogers was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Rogers was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Fultz, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Shaddix Lewis, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Coming up, Owsley County will be playing at home against Berea at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Menifee County, they are taking a road trip to face off against Paintsville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
