Baseball Recap: Berwyn/Cicero Morton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Proviso East

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Berwyn/Cicero Morton). Everything went their way against the Proviso East Pirates on Thursday as they made off with a 10-3 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-0 on Monday.

Jayden Vega and Gabriel Herrera did most of the damage at the plate: Vega got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Herrera went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Berwyn/Cicero Morton is 2-1 when Herrera posts two or more runs, but 9-21 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Johangel Castrillo, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Berwyn/Cicero Morton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-22 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Proviso East, they are on a 23-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-25.
