Softball Game Preview: Beecher Bobcats vs. Providence Catholic Celtics

The Beecher Bobcats will face off against the Providence Catholic Celtics at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Beecher sitting on six straight victories and Providence Catholic on three.

Providence Catholic's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Beecher hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Bobcats' pitcher stepped up to hand Peotone a 2-0 shutout on Wednesday.

Peotone's batters probably weren't too happy with Taylor Norkus, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 15 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Norkus has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Olson, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Providence Catholic was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They had just enough and edged out Loyola Academy 5-3.

Beecher pushed their record up to 27-1 with the win, which was their 29th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Providence Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 15-7.

Beecher was able to grind out a solid win over Providence Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2019, winning 5-0. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Celtics have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
