San Clemente snaps three-game streak of wins at home

Recap: San Clemente Tritons vs. Dana Hills Dolphins

After a string of four wins, the San Clemente Tritons's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 74-57 bruising from Dana Hills. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Wednesday (56), San Clemente still had to take the loss.

San Clemente's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Will Whidden, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Chase Tolliver, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, San Clemente were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

It was another big night for Collin Haugh, who went 9 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 39 points and 2 assists for Dana Hills. That makes it four consecutive games in which Haugh has scored at least 25% of Dana Hills' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Torab, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

San Clemente's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4. As for Dana Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.

San Clemente will take on Northwood in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Northwood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Dana Hills will be home for the holidays to greet Laguna Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Laguna Beach will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Dana Hills is ranked 51st).
