Football Game Preview: King William Cavaliers vs. Colonial Heights Colonials

The King William Cavaliers will head out to challenge the Colonial Heights Colonials at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (King William has four straight wins, Colonial Heights has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

King William proved they can win big back in October (they won by 24) and last Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mechanicsville, sneaking past 24-21. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cavaliers have posted since November 15, 2024.

K'Sean Hill produced another solid effort rushing for 106 yards and two scores. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passing yards (49). King William also got a significant boost from Xavier Shelton, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 80 yards.

Meanwhile, Colonial Heights played a tough matchup on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 32-8 to Meadowbrook. While losing is never fun, the Colonials can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Monarchs are ranked 66th).

King William's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Colonial Heights, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

King William was able to grind out a solid victory over Colonial Heights when the teams last played back in October of 2023, winning 14-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
