Baseball Recap: Pacheco Snaps Six-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pacheco). They blew past the Johansen Vikings 15-2 on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Aidan Pikas and Tucker Kim made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Pikas pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Meanwhile, Kim pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Pacheco is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise. At bat, Pikas scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Kim went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one run. Pikas has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zealand Hatcher, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Price, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Pacheco was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Pacheco's victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-7. As for Johansen, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-7-1.
