Basketball Recap: Drake Hosman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ellinwood over Kiowa County

Ellinwood was the 66-46 winner over Kiowa County when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Ellinwood Eagles took a 64-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kiowa County Mavericks on Saturday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Drake Hosman, who went 6 of 12 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tavian Mccaffery, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points.

Ellinwood's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Kiowa County, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Ellinwood will take on Ell-Saline in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ell-Saline will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Ellinwood surely won't give up without a fight. Kiowa County and Meade will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Kiowa County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
