Baseball Recap: Kingswood Oxford Wins High-Profile Match Against Taft School

Kingswood Oxford faced Taft School in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Wyverns came out on top against the Big Red by a score of 10-6. Considering the Wyverns' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Will Parkhouse made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Parkhouse was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

In other pitching news, Harry Engle looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Dom Trolio was incredible, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Boden Swanson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Kingswood Oxford is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Taft School, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8.

As of now, neither Kingswood Oxford nor the Big Red have any future games scheduled.
