Softball Recap: Phelps Takes a Loss

Phelps was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 20-4 to the Betsy Layne Bobcats. One positive for the Hornets, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Haley Kender and Kaylee Tackett stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kender went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI, while Tackett scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Phelps' defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Betsy Layne, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Looking ahead, Phelps will be playing in front of their home fans against Belfry at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Betsy Layne, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Betsy Layne Bobcats duke it out with Morgan County Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
