Softball Recap: Williams Bulldogs vs. Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves
Williams extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-16 in the process. They came up short against the Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves, falling 19-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Fighting Red Wolves this season, with their most recent loss being a 18-0 defeat last Tuesday.
Williams saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caroline Conner, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.
As for Cedar Ridge, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.
On Cedar Ridge's side, Charlotte Lowry made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lowry has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Kimber Shambley was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brittani Goddard, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.
Williams does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cedar Ridge, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 15-14 win against Orange on the 29th.
