Baseball Recap: Eagle Takes a Loss

Eagle fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Tucson High Magnet School on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tucson High Magnet School Badgers by a score of 3-2. The contest marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Stephen Egan was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Declan Ragan was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Carter Ditlove also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Eagle's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eagle will welcome Ridgevue at 6:30 p.m. on March 28th. Eagle's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Ridgevue's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they will square off against Hamilton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
