Football Recap: Marion Skates Past Randolph with Ease

Marion won against Luling last Friday with 49 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Bulldogs simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Randolph Ro-Hawks 49-21. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Bulldogs have posted against the Ro-Hawks since October 20, 2017.

Marion had a senior duo take command as Kade Pape threw for 266 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.1 yards per attempt and Tanner Otis gained 188 total yards and three touchdowns. Otis also rushed for 146 rushing yards, which is notable because the Bulldogs are undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. 81 of Pape's passing yards were hauled in by Jack Wells, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Marion was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 211 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

The victory was the third in a row for Marion, bringing their record up to 5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.7 points on average over those games. As for Randolph, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Coming up, after each having a week off, Marion and Ingram Moore will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. As for Randolph, they will challenge Llano at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The Yellowjackets' defense has only allowed 14.6 points per game this season, so the Ro-Hawks' offense will have their work cut out for them.
