Softball Game Preview: Tillamook Cheesemakers vs. Astoria Fishermen

Tillamook is 0-10 against Astoria since April of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Cheesemakers will head out on the road to face off against the Fishermen at 4:00 p.m. Tillamook has given up an average of 15.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tillamook is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 16-4 to St. Helens.

Tillamook saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaylin Krumweide, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Astoria got the win against North Bend on Friday by a conclusive 18-3. That looming 18-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Fishermen yet this season.

Astoria is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Tillamook, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

Tillamook might still be hurting after the 22-9 loss they got from Astoria in their previous meeting on April 10th. Can the Cheesemakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
