Preview: Shepherd Pirates vs. Onalaska Wildcats
The Shepherd Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Onalaska Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shepherd is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Shepherd suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They suffered a rough 44-20 defeat at the hands of Coldspring-Oakhurst. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Shepherd has scored all season.
Meanwhile, after only 24 points in their last contest, Onalaska made sure to put some points up on the board against Coldspring-Oakhurst on Friday. Onalaska came out on top against Coldspring-Oakhurst by a score of 61-52. The win was a breath of fresh air for Onalaska as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Mary Joy Cariaga was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with six steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Shaylan Linear, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Shepherd has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. Onalaska's record is now 16-13.
Shepherd came up short against Onalaska when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 60-49. Can Shepherd avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
