Soccer Recap: Branford Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Branford can now relate to. They came up short against the Maclay Marauders on Tuesday, falling 9-0. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 439th, while the Marauders are ranked 27th).

Branford's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Maclay, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which somehow still isn't as good as their 17-1 record this season.

Branford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Maclay, they will square off against Trinity Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maclay will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each contest than the last.
