Basketball Recap: Cedar Key Comes Up Short

Cedar Key and Wildwood squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Cedar Key had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Wildwood Wildcats, falling 94-29. The Sharks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 66-25.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wildwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Demetrius Knight, who went 9 of 13 en route to 23 points and five steals. Those 23 points gave Knight a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Traeston Armstrong, who went 9 for 12 on his way to 22 points.

Cedar Key's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Wildwood, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.

Cedar Key does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wildwood, they will square off against Williston on Wednesday. Wildwood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Williston likes a good challenge.
