Baseball Game Preview: Villa Grove Blue Devils vs. Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman Buffaloes

The Villa Grove Blue Devils will face off against the Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman Buffaloes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Villa Grove has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Villa Grove didn't have quite enough to beat Central A & M and fell 6-4.

Cooper Clark put in work no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Gavin Taylor made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs. Noah Wilcoxon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman's offense. They lost 12-0 to Oakwood on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Buffaloes in their meetings with the Comets: they've now lost three in a row.

Villa Grove has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-19.
