Soccer Game Preview: Santana vs. Steele Canyon

The Santana Sultans will take on the Steele Canyon Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Santana had just enough and edged Calexico out 3-2. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Sultans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 565th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 84th).

Meanwhile, Steele Canyon kept a clean sheet against Valhalla on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Norsemen with a sharp 3-0 win. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Cougars were the better team in the second half.

Santana's victory bumped their record up to 5-7-3. As for Steele Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 2-8-1.

Santana was able to grind out a solid victory over Steele Canyon when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 2-0. Will Santana repeat their success, or does Steele Canyon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
