Volleyball Preview: Mourning Sharks vs. Braddock Bulldogs

The Mourning Sharks will take on the Braddock Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mourning will be looking to keep their 13-game home win streak dating back to last season alive.

Mourning is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Mater Lakes Academy just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bears. The matchup marked the Sharks' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

The final score came out to 25-16, 18-25, 25-8, 25-13.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Alejandra Luzardo, who had 31 digs. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had seven or more in the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. Emma Winston was another key player, getting 20 digs.

Meanwhile, Braddock didn't have quite enough to beat South Dade on Monday and fell 3-2. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Braddock sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 27-25, 17-25, 27-25, 24-26, 15-11.

Having lost for the first time this season, Mourning fell to 9-1. As for Braddock, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
