Christian McCaffrey takes a backseat to younger brother Dylan when it comes to recording passing, rushing and receiving touchdowns in the same game

Dylan McCaffrey had multiple "triple crown" touchdown games while at Valor Christian.

The football world was abuzz with the performance of recent San Francisco 49ers acquisition Christian McCaffrey, who became just the fourth NFL player since the merger to register a touchdown pass, touchdown reception and touchdown run in the same game.

McCaffrey, who the 49ers acquired in a trade with the Carolina Panthers two weeks ago, opened San Francisco's 31-14 win over the Los Angeles Rams with a 34-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Aiyuk. He later added a 9-yard touchdown reception and a 1-yard touchdown run to become the first NFL player since LaDainian Tomlinson in 2005 to complete the trifecta.

After the game, McCaffrey told reporters that his younger brothers provided the example on how to throw a football.

"Both my little brothers are quarterbacks so I learned a lot from them," McCaffrey told NBC Sports Bay Area.

What McCaffrey didn't mention is that his brother Dylan, a quarterback at Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) from 2014 to 2016, had the triple crown of touchdowns in a loss to Saguaro (Ariz.) his senior year and also accomplished the feat twice as a junior against Grandview and Chaparral.

Christian McCaffrey, a 2014 graduate of Valor Christian, only had one touchdown pass in his high school career and that came as a sophomore when he also has a rushing touchdown but no receiving score.

The latest high school triple crown sensation is Tre Richardson of Highland Park (Topeka, Kan.), who has done it twice this season.

The leading scorer in the nation with 50 total touchdowns, Richardson had one touchdown pass, four touchdowns runs and a touchdown reception in a 60-47 win over Wyandotte. In a 62-48 win over Washington, Richardson had a touchdown pass, three touchdown runs, two touchdown receptions and for good measure he added a kickoff return for a score.
