Basketball Recap: Liberty Beats Canyon Springs for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Liberty lost to Canyon Springs back in December of 2022, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Liberty Bison snuck past the Canyon Springs Cougars with a 53-47 win. Given the Bison's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Cougars are ranked 592nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elijah Stephenson, who posted eight points and five steals. Those five steals gave Stephenson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Vann, who scored 12 points.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Liberty, bringing their record for this year to 11-4. As for Canyon Springs, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Liberty didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-40 win against JW North on the 14th. As for Canyon Springs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 46-37 defeat against Moreno Valley on the 14th.
