Baseball Recap: Trinity Lutheran Cougars vs. Brownstown Central Braves
Trinity Lutheran extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-7 in the process. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brownstown Central Braves. The Cougars were not able to make up for their defeat to the Braves from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Kade Gillaspy made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.
As for Brownstown Central, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.
On Brownstown Central's side, Jaxson Johnson was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Johnson has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Killey, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Coming up, Trinity Lutheran will take on Scottsburg at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brownstown Central, they will face off against Lanesville at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
