Softball Game Preview: Era Hornets vs. Muenster Hornets

Era hasn't had much luck against Muenster recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Era will welcome Muenster at 5:00 p.m.

Era is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Alvord, falling 10-1.

Meanwhile, Muenster entered their tilt with Lindsay on Tuesday with 12 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 13. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Knights an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Skyler Reed made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Muenster let Brynlee Berend and Anna Kay Hennigan run wild. Berend scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Hennigan scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Ady Carney was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Muenster pushed their record up to 17-7-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Era, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.
