Baseball Game Preview: Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils vs. Seaholm Maples

The Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils will take on the Seaholm Maples at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Grosse Pointe South's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Seaholm's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Grosse Pointe South's offense. They came up short against Anchor Bay on Thursday, falling 9-0. The Blue Devils' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Grosse Pointe South got a good showing from Alex Foote, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Foote has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Seaholm had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past Seaholm/Groves 8-1.

Ian Evert was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted over his last ten contests. Aaron Van De Mark was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Grosse Pointe South's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Seaholm, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12-3.
