Desert Mountain had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Verrado Vipers on Saturday as they made off with an 11-1 victory. Considering the Wolves have won 17 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Lilly 'Goose' Goodwin made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 22 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Desert Mountain let Gabby Borovansky and Zoe Horning run wild. Borovansky went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Horning went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. That's the most RBI Borovansky has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of McKinsey Beyer, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Desert Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matches.

Desert Mountain pushed their record up to 28-1-1 with the win, which was their 25th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Verrado, they moved to 27-5 with that defeat, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

Desert Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 1-0 win against Canyon View on the 16th. As for Verrado, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-0 loss against Willow Canyon on the 14th.
