Basketball Recap: Fairfield Comes Up Short

Fairfield lost against Attica back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Fairfield Falcons took a blow against the Attica Bulldogs, falling 60-30. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 100th).

Fairfield lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Rhylee Haskins, who posted three points and six boards. Tagan Metzger also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Attica's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zoie Redgate, who scored 17 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds. Redgate has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 38 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Liberty Swingle, who went 8-for-16 on her way to 20 points and three steals.

Fairfield has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Attica, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Fairfield has already played their next game (against Pretty Prairie), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Attica, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 69-17 win against Skyline on the 11th.
