Baseball Recap: Canyon Snaps 14-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Canyon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over the Van Nuys Wolves. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cowboys have posted since April 24, 2024.

Matthew Jimenez was excellent, scoring a run while going 4-for-6. Those hits marked the first that he got this season. Another player making a difference was Levi Shickle, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Canyon's victory ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. As for Van Nuys, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Canyon will square off against Eastside at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Van Nuys will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences at 2:30 p.m. on March 19th.
