Basketball Game Preview: Van Buren Vee Bees vs. Far Rockaway Seahorses

After both having extra time off, the Van Buren Vee Bees and the Far Rockaway Seahorses will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Far Rockaway took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Van Buren, who comes in off a win.

Van Buren took a loss when they played away from home on January 9th, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed two weeks ago. They enjoyed a cozy 43-28 victory over Springfield Gardens. The win was some much needed relief for the Vee Bees as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Far Rockaway had to suffer through a 83-22 loss at the hands of Architecture, Engineering and Construction. While losing is never fun, the Seahorses can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 407th, while the Tigers are ranked 126th).

Van Buren's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-7. As for Far Rockaway, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Van Buren couldn't quite finish off Far Rockaway in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 and fell 38-35. Can Van Buren avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
