Basketball Game Preview: Monsignor Pace Spartans vs. South Dade Buccaneers

The Monsignor Pace Spartans will take on the South Dade Buccaneers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Monsignor Pace will be strutting in after a win while South Dade will be coming in after a loss.

Monsignor Pace took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past North Broward Prep 54-29. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season.

Evelyn Cortes continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 11 rebounds. Her evening made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Vikki Blye was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 14 boards.

Monsignor Pace smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, South Dade unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by Ferguson and fell 68-30. While losing is never fun, the Buccaneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 387th, while the Falcons are ranked 136th).

Monsignor Pace's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for South Dade, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
