Soccer Game Preview: Pioneer vs. Willow Glen

The Pioneer Mustangs will face off against the Willow Glen Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Willow Glen is facing Pioneer at the wrong time: Pioneer suffered their first home loss of the season on Friday and they're likely out for redemption. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 2-1. The contest was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Mustangs couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Willow Glen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to Westmont. The shutout was out of character for the Rams seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in December of 2024.

Willow Glen's loss dropped their record down to 3-6-2. As for Pioneer, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-4-1.

Pioneer skirted past Willow Glen 2-1 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Does Pioneer have another victory up their sleeve, or will Willow Glen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
