Basketball Recap: Monarch Sets Scoring Season-High Against Silver Creek

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monarch). They secured an 83-78 W over the Silver Creek Raptors on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Coyotes, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Logan Laverty was his usual excellent self, going 10-for-15 on his way to 28 points and five steals. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.7% shooting accuracy. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Ehrnstrom, who went 7-for-12 en route to 17 points.

Monarch was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Despite the loss, Silver Creek had strong showings from Connor Bonsett, who went 6-for-12 to rack up 20 points and seven rebounds, and Henry Pendergrass, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 16 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Those 20 points gave Bonsett a new career-high. Sean Buckingham was another key player, going 5-for-7 en route to 13 points and three steals.

Monarch's record is now 13-9. As for Silver Creek, their defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-12.

Looking ahead, Monarch will venture away from home to challenge Centaurus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Monarch knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Centaurus likes a good challenge. As for Silver Creek, they will head out on the road to take on Skyline at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Silver Creek is facing Skyline at the right time seeing as Skyline is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
