Softball Recap: Donovan Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Donovan waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Momence Momence Athletics. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-6 back in March.

Laylah Lou Walters spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bailey Henneike, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Donovan's record now sits at 6-3. As for Momence, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Donovan will be playing at home against Clifton Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Momence, they will take on Grant Park at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons' pitching crew has only allowed 1.1 runs per game this season, so the Momence Athletics' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
