Baseball Game Preview: Bayfield Wolverines vs. Taos Tigers

The Bayfield Wolverines will be taking part in a tournament against the Taos Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Bayfield is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Bayfield came into this matchup off a tough six-run loss on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Bloomfield by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday.

Tavian Box made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Wednesday. Taos skirted past Aztec 4-3.

Ricco Martinez tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Christian Fresquez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Bayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Taos, their record is now 4-5.
