Basketball Recap: Unalakleet Comes Up Short

Unalakleet fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Davis-Romoth on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Davis-Romoth Wolves by a score of 55-52. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wolfpack came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Wolves are ranked 26th).

Davis-Romoth's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Calani Hingsbergen, who posted 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Hingsbergen, who had 17 points.

Unalakleet's defeat dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Davis-Romoth, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-1.

Coming up, Unalakleet will challenge Unalaska on February 22nd. As for Davis-Romoth, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against McQueen at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Davis-Romoth is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season.
