Baseball Recap: Kent City Comes Up Short

Kent City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Central Montcalm Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, with their most recent loss being a 13-6 defeat on Tuesday.

Derek Rodenerg made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Kent City is 4-1 when Rodenerg posts two or more runs, but 5-13 otherwise. Harrison Smith was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Kent City's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Central Montcalm, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 17-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Hornets beat Kent City by a score of 10-0 later that day.
