Softball Game Preview: Coronado Mustangs vs. Monterey Plainsmen

Coronado is 2-8 against Monterey since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Coronado will head out on the road to challenge Monterey at 6:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Coronado came up short against Tascosa and fell 8-4. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monterey). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Palo Duro a 28-0 shutout on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Plainsmen in their matchups with the Dons: they've now won three in a row.

Coronado's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Monterey, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Coronado might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from Monterey in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Coronado avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
