Basketball Recap: Whitmore Lake Skates Past Lutheran with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Whitmore Lake). They took their match on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 73-46 win over the Lutheran Warriors. While the Trojans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Nate Dillon was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 16 rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds. Jayden Canter was another key player, going 5 for 7 on his way to 11 points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

Whitmore Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Lutheran's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Simon Hoeft, who posted six points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Brannon, who had eight points and three steals.

Whitmore Lake's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Lutheran, they dropped their record down to 0-7 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whitmore Lake will face off against Dansville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lutheran, they will challenge Livingston Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
