Basketball Recap: Zanariah Yarborough and Jazzlyn Mcmillan Secure Win for Fairfield Central

Fairfield Central lost to Eau Claire back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Fairfield Central Griffins enjoyed a cozy 43-29 victory over the Eau Claire Shamrocks. The Griffins didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.

Fairfield Central was led to victory by Jazzlyn McMillan and Zanariah Yarborough. McMillan went 5 for 11 on her way to 16 points along with eight boards and seven assists, while Yarborough dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which McMillan has scored at least a third of Fairfield Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlynn Pinkney, who posted six points and three steals.

Fairfield Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Eau Claire still got an impressive performance from Destinee Tiller, who earned 13 points. That was a full 44.8% of Eau Claire's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Ayjiah Motley was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Fairfield Central's record is now 4-7. As for Eau Claire, the loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 8-5.

Fairfield Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 33-20 victory against Columbia on the 17th. As for Eau Claire, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 46-44 win against Mid-Carolina on the 17th.
