Baseball Game Preview: Warrensburg Burgers vs. Greenwich Witches

The Warrensburg Burgers are taking a road trip to take on the Greenwich Witches at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Warrensburg is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Warrensburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Lake George with a sharp 7-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Burgers, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Louis Lang made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Warrensburg let Maris Martin and Owen Jones run wild. Martin went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Jones got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Jones has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kawliga Duell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Greenwich entered their tilt with Berne-Knox-Westerlo on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Bulldogs.

Greenwich's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Warrensburg, their record now sits at 17-4.

Warrensburg might still be hurting after the 11-3 defeat they got from Greenwich in their previous matchup back in April of 2018. Can the Burgers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
