Softball Recap: Elk Point-Jefferson Comes Up Short

After flying high against Centerville two weeks ago, Elk Point-Jefferson came back down to earth. The Huskies took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Beresford Watchdogs on Friday. If the Huskies were looking for revenge after losing 7-0 to the Watchdogs when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Cera Schmitz made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last eight games she's played dating back to last season. Bailey Johnson also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Elk Point-Jefferson has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season. As for Beresford, they pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Elk Point-Jefferson is set to square off against their familiar foe Canton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Beresford will challenge rival Tri-Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
